If you look to the right of the above photo you’ll see some free-standing plaques (15 in total). They wind around the edge of the square. They signify famous Bulgarian people and there’s some information about the person on each one. It’s quite interesting – although takes quite a bit of time to read each one. Hopefully, my photos will give you a bit of a taster to have a look …
I’m hoping each of the plaques are readable! This one is Simeon 1 The Great
Evan Asen II
Gotse Delchev
Todor Kableshkov (maybe the village of Kableshkovo is named after him?)
Georei Stoykov Rakovski
Georgi Benkovski
Rayna Knyaginya
Hristo Botev
Vasil Levski
Lyuben Karavelov
Zahari Stovan
Ivan Vazov
Sophronius Vrachanski (sorry about the bird mess!)
St Paisius of Hilander
St Clement of Ohrid
